Christmas 2015

Successful scaling back Christmas this year. We minimised workload, time and financial pressure plus waste. Much to be learned this Christmas. People matter more than stuff. Excess is not necessary. Anyway, keeping it short as we are in the mode of looking ahead but we were just 6 for Christmas Day. We ate a regular roast in the evening without Turkey. We didn’t bother with crackers or other items that just end up in the trash. We didn’t do excess food or drink.

Instead of cooking and clearing up, we had the time to spend with the children which included new Monster High Dolls, watching movies, Magic The Gathering and Tie Dye! Boxing Day was some of the same except the TV blew up!

Then Grandad D arrived followed by Nanny Teresa and Uncle M who was visiting from America totalling 11 in the house. Easy cold buffet food, a few glasses of wine, lots of chatter and social.

December 28th, the tree came down and that’s Christmas DONE this year. Although left with rather an odd feeling that Christmas this year was just an inconvenient distraction at a time where personally in our lives we are keen to press forward with work. It’s all part of a bigger picture.
