or even try to School Ya! Oh no!
Sang Bob Marley.
Back in October 2011 we decided to dabble in all things Jamaican as a mini learning topic. Call it home educating geography with home economics thrown in for good measure.
As is often the case with home education an interest takes off simply from reading a book or watching television, a conversation or perhaps visiting a place. In this case, it was on the back of my own interest in the TV show, Dragon’s Den. One of the budding entrepreneurs was a Jamaican guy known as Levi Roots (I’m sure you may have heard of his name by now) who with the backing of one of the Dragons, namely Peter Jones has done extremely well with his Reggae Reggae sauce and Caribbean recipes.
Spotting the book in the library I took it home for a read and soon enough we were taste testing Jamaican style food and learning about the country. As easy as that.
On the menu; pineapple, banana and orange juice sunshine smoothies to help boost the immune system; spicy roast chicken served with sweet potato and of course a bottle of Reggae Reggae.
and of course we listened to plenty Bob Marley.
